Program Overview

Lakehead University`s (Lakehead) Faculty of Engineering offers a 2-year Master of Science in Environmental Engineering (MSc Eng) which is offered as both a full-time and part-time program. Part-time study is facilitated by the scheduling of course lectures and laboratories in the evening. The program provides a common curriculum to train graduates from engineering and related natural sciences in providing effective solutions to environmental challenges faced by industries and communities. This unique program brings together faculty members from the disciplines of chemical, civil and mechanical engineering, biology, chemistry, forestry and geology to enable students carry out multidisciplinary course and thesis work. This approach helps students achieve an integrated understanding of the multifaceted components of environmental issues.

Buildings & Resources

Located on over 130 hectares of land in south-west Thunder Bay, Lakehead’s Faculty of Engineering provides "smart classrooms", GIS labs, and computer teaching and research labs for students. All students receive individual computer and email accounts. The C.J. Sanders Fieldhouse offers a fully equipped gymnasium, weight and combative rooms, squash courts and an Olympic-size pool. The multi-sport athletics facility, which opened in 2005, houses an indoor running track, multi-purpose indoor field, aerobic/yoga studio, weight room and fitness centre, climbing wall, student lounge and sports medicine clinic.
