Student Story:"Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Yi Liang. I am a Chinese who is living in Guangdong province, China. I am very glad that I have this opportunity to present myself to all of you as a former student of the TESL Centre, Saint Mary's University.
It was 2002 when I first came to Canada, and the TESL Centre became the first place where I started my new adventure. Be honest, I did not have very good impression when the first time I saw the TESL Centre. What can I do with this small age-old building? Soon I realized I was wrong. One can never make a judgment only by appearance. The hospitality of the staffs and instructors, the multicultural study environment, and the family-oriented atmosphere totally changed my point of view. Yes, the building is small but can widely contain different cultures and keep us even closer; the building is old but just like an old friend to me, because people who were the same as me have left their indelible memories here that make the building even "older".
The TESL Centre is not only a place where you can receive your professional English training, but also a place where you can make friends. Its Intensive English Programs have improved my English in different aspects. I really appreciate the instructors who were always patient to tutor me and answer all my questions in professional manner. In addition, small classes gave me more opportunities to communicate with my instructors and my classmates. What made me even happier was that my classmates were from all over the world. Communicating with them was just like experiencing different cultures without boundaries. I truly enjoy studying in this international society, where I have more opportunities to practice my English and I can taste the joy of life.
I have a heartfelt wish that all of you have this opportunity to experience this exciting study life in the TESL Centre!"
