ASSUMPTION UNIVERSITY

ASSUMPTION UNIVERSITY

Mission Statement:

Assumption University, founded 1857, has been administered by the Congregation of Saint Basil, the Basilian Fathers, since 1870. Assumption University is the founding institution of the University of Windsor (founded 1963) and is currently the only Catholic university federated with the University of Windsor. Assumption University is a privately operated, autonomous university with its own degree granting charter, distinct from the University of Windsor and yet through federation an integral part of it. Assumption University, as a research university, contributes uniquely to the intellectual life of its federated partner through its three major academic endeavors: The Center for Religion and Culture, Department of Theology, and The Christian Culture Series. In addition to these specific realms of activity Assumption University contributes to the life of the University of Windsor by hosting research chairs held by faculty of the University of Windsor and hold service at their Windsor campus chapel location.
