Mission Statement:

Considered the most technologically advanced academy of its kind in North America, the Institute features brilliant training facilities such as a full ship's bridge simulator, and the world's largest flume tank, and offers degree, diploma and certification programs. Previously known as "the Fisheries College", the Marine Institute arrived at its current location overlooking the city of St. John's in 1984, and features three principle disciplines: the school of fisheries, the school of maritime studies and the school of Ocean Technology. We believe at the most fundamental level students get the most out of their studies when they believe in and feel reinforced by those around them in pursuing the academic undertaking they've committed to. As such, its of the utmost importance to our support staff and instructors to create an environment wherein students feel comfortable -- where they can enjoy their studies and their quality of life, make meaningful connections with their professors, and feel confident about their career prospects upon graduation.
