NOVA SCOTIA COMMUNITY COLLEGE-ANNAPOLIS VALLEY

Mission Statement:

The Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) is a province-wide institution for vocational training and education. Certificate and diploma programs are offered in applied arts and new media, business, health services and human services at the Annapolis Valley Campus. NSCC students gain practical lab and workshop experience and complete a work placement. Courses are developed in consultation with government, business and industry, and reflect sector demand and employment trends. NSCC instructors are recruited directly from industry and maintain their connections in the field, thus ensuring that NSCC programs remain practical and relevant. 91 per cent of NSCC graduates are employed; 80 per cent work in their chosen field. The Annapolis Valley Campus is a maritime centre for geomatics research and training. The campus has sites in Digby and Middleton, and includes the Centre of Geographic Sciences (COGS) in Lawrencetown. COGS is one of the largest trainers of geomatics technicians and technologists in Canada. It also offers post-degree and advanced degree geomatics programs. The Middleton site is home to the Applied Geomatics Research Centre, which supports research on the applied uses of GPS, Remote Sensing and GIS technologies.
