NOVA SCOTIA COMMUNITY COLLEGE-PICTOU

Mission Statement:

The Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) is a province-wide institution for vocational training and education. Certificate and diploma programs are offered in applied arts and new media, business, health services, human services, trades and technology at the Pictou Campus. The School of Fisheries in Pictou provides training in the commercial marine and fish harvesting industries. NSCC students gain practical lab and workshop experience and complete a work placement. Courses are developed in consultation with government, business and industry, and reflect sector demand and employment trends. NSCC instructors are recruited directly from industry and maintain their connections in the field, thus ensuring that NSCC programs remain practical and relevant. 91 per cent of NSCC graduates are employed; 80 per cent work in their chosen field. The Pictou Campus has recently undergone renovations and has a new trades shop, library, learning commons, bookstore and coffee shop, as well as two new enclosed courtyards. NSCC Students at Pictou can participate in intervarsity soccer, hockey, softball and basketball through the campus athletic association.
