COLLEGE OF THE NORTH ATLANTIC - PRINCE PHILIP DRI.
Mission Statement:In 1997, the College of the North Atlantic was formed through amalgamating 17 district vocational schools which had peppered the Newfoundland & Labrador region since 1963. With the intention of developing highly skilled, enthusiastic and talented employees for an evolving professional landscape, CNA educates and retrains individuals through a spectrum of careers ranging from textile studies, to paramedic training, to graphic design -- thus forming a foundation and providing a locus of hope and dignity for a resilient and hard-working region of the country. Indigenous peoples resided in what is North America's oldest city as much as 9,000 years ago. In 1762, the conclusion of the Battle of Signal Hill saw the surrender of St. John's to British forces under the command of Colonel William Amherst. With the stability that followed came steady population growth and the expansion of the salmon and 'Banks' fisheries. The city's residents now number over 173,000 individuals, and while visitors will be able to access all of the modern conveniences, they'll be charmed by this historic township's enduring sense of community.
