COLLEGE OF THE NORTH ATLANTIC - RIDGE ROAD

Mission Statement:

In 1997, the College of the North Atlantic was formed through amalgamating 17 district vocational schools which had peppered the Newfoundland & Labrador region since 1963. With the intention of developing highly skilled, enthusiastic and talented employees for an evolving professional landscape, CNA educates and retrains individuals in a spectrum of careers ranging from biomedical engineering, to telecommunications, to HVAC training -- thus forming a foundation and providing a locus of hope and dignity for a resilient and hard-working region of the country. St. John's embodies the spirit of discovery; the pushing of the veritable envelope. Marconi received the first transatlantic signal here from atop Signal Hill in 1901, and the first non-stop transatlantic crossing undertaken by Alcock and Brown took place from Newfoundland's easternmost city in 1919. Many of the CNA's engineering programs offered from this campus are useful to the offshore-oil projects which continue to spur local economic development, and 'The Grand Concourse' awaits those who seek refuge and reflection among St. John's charming lakes and valleys.
