The Faculty of Engineering at McMaster has distinguished itself internationally for innovative educational programming and research. Established in 1958, its numerous institutes, centres and laboratories are collaborating on hundreds of research projects with the public and private sectors. McMaster is consistently ranked as one of the top-three doctoral research universities in Canada.

The Faculty of Engineering at McMaster University is constantly investing in new equipment and facilities through government funding, private endowments and partnership with industry.
The fall of 2009 marks the opening of the Faculty's sixth building on campus, the Engineering Technology Building, which houses the McMaster School of Biomedical Engineering, the Walter G. Booth School of Engineering Practice's centres of entrepreneurship, public policy and engineering design, as well as other research and education facilities.
