About the Secondary School International Program

The Kootenay Lake School District #8 International Program is a vibrant one constantly addressing the changing needs of its international students. The program has flourished since 1999 with students saying "It is the real Canadian Dream" by honouring the program's commitment to the students to ensure that the homestay families and schools are the best they can be.

Secondary School Highlights

  • Orientation: United Nations scavenger hunt, camping trip, and river rafting
  • Program Academies in soccer, rugby, dance, volleyball and Adventure Tourism
  • Located in the beautiful lakefront town of Nelson, British Columbia, 30 minutes from Castlegar airport with 3 flights per day from Vancouver
  • Offers a large variety of elective programs in art, music, dance, photography, robotics, debate, acting, technology, drafting, carpentry, cooking, sewing, Spanish, French, creative writing, psychology, etc.
  • Strong tradition of academics delivered in a hands-on, student centered approach with the option of taking online courses as well
