College of the Rockies: COTR Introduces Dual Credit Courses for Secondary Students
East Kootenay secondary school students may now receive university and secondary school credits for College of the Rockies University Studies and Business courses. Dean of Instruction Ardy Smith Miller commented, "We have introduced this option, in cooperation with a number of Kootenay secondary schools, to allow their students to get a head start on their post-secondary education. It means if they take a COTR Business or University Studies course they will receive credit from both their school and from the College, upon successful completion." "And," she added, "They are directly transferable to many Canadian universities and university colleges. Students can take these courses either online or face-to-face in our classrooms. "In addition," Smith Miller continued, "We are also offering regional secondary students 35 tuition awards for the September and January semesters. These awards are for the first qualified applicants for dual credit courses taken either online or face-to-face. They cover the tuition fee for one course per student, approximately $275. There are 15 awards each for School Districts #5 and #6 and five awards for Prince Charles Secondary in School District #8."
