Golden Hills School Division Approves a Christian Alternative
Program for Strathmore
Starting in September 2008, the Alberta Lutheran School Society will be partnering with the Golden Hills School Division #75 to create a new school for the Town of Strathmore and surrounding areas. The new program will be a Christian faith based Alternative Program for students from Kindergarten – Grade 6. In recent years there has been a definite trend towards supporting faith based programs within the Alberta public school system. Many Alberta school divisions like Golden Hills School Division see these programs as a way of providing educational choices that their constituents are seeking. Demonstrated growth in the numbers of these types of schools can be seen within the Edmonton Public, Red Deer, Rocky View, Elk Island, Palliser and several other Alberta school divisions over the last several years. “We are thrilled with the decision of the school division to move ahead with this project,” comments Bob Gellatly, spokesperson for the Alberta Lutheran School Society. “The program will provide a new choice for area families within the public school system. For those families who hold a Christian worldview, we feel this program will provide an excellent educational option that will allow their children to openly develop their faith in a safe supportive environment. Many families from non쳌]Christian backgrounds will likely also be interested in the program due to shared moral and philosophical views.” Golden Hills School Division operates a number of Alternative Programs already, including the Strathmore Storefront School, the Golden Hills Virtual School, the Trochu Valley Outreach School, the Sequoia School in Gleichen, and the Prairie Christian Academy in Three Hills. This new school will add to this list of existing programs.

Among this year's list of ten women is Praxis International Institute Vice-President, Monica Kreuger. Monica says, "I am pleasantly surprised to see my name included on such a list that includes so many great women from Saskatchewan. It is definitely an honour to be on this list since there are so many women in this province that are helping to create a better province." Praxis International Institute is an independent high school located in Craik, Saskatchewan. The high school was created by Brent and Monica Kreuger who have been operating a post-secondary institute, Global Infobrokers, in Saskatoon for nearly 20 years. The idea for Praxis came from Brent and Monica's experience training entrepreneurs at Global Infobrokers and they decided that a school that focused on entrepreneurial training for high school aged students was needed.
