MacLachlan College: Intermediates Celebrate Earth Day
Mr. Scheben worked with the intermediates to create an outline of a giant footprint, an eco-footprint in the playground. The students discussed the meaning of an ecological footprint and calculated that it would take 3.6 hectars of land per MacLachlan student to survive at their current lifestyle; at that rate we would need 7 Earth's if all people lived similarly!

West Vancouver School District #45: First Parent Appreciation Dinner
The theme of our first ever Parent Appreciation Dinner was "From West Vancouver With Love." The dinner, hosted by the International Program Principal - Dr. Rod Matheson, included all of the parents and agency representatives who have placed students in West Vancouver Schools. The celebration dinner was an opportunity for Dr. Matheson to personally thank all of the parents for their support of the West Vancouver International Program. There were 30 parents who attended the dinner along with representatives from three distinguished agencies that worked with the parents in registering the students in West Vancouver. Amy Chen, the Manager of the British Columbia Education Centre in Shanghai, helped arrange the restaurant and program. The dinner was a wonderful evening of sharing information and stories about the students now attending school in West Vancouver. The highlight of the evening for the parents was a video presentation in which most of the Shanghai area students were able to send along messages of love and hello to their parents in the video entitled "From West Vancouver With Love". The parents appreciated very much the opportunity to see their children on the video and also to see the beautiful setting for the video backdrop. We filmed the messages from the students on the shores of the beach in West Vancouver with the Lion's Gate Bridge and Stanley Park as our backdrop. Included here are pictures of the various parents and agency representatives who attended the dinner along with the 6 minute video presentation by the students. For more information on our international programs, both long-term and short-term, please contact Dr. Rod Matheson, Ms. Maureen Smiley, or Ms. Claire Wang at the addresses provided in the website.
