Why study in Canada?
Read what international students have to say about studying in Quebec and the universities and colleges they attended.
Bishop’s University Sherbrooke, Quebec I fell in love the moment I walked onto the Bishop's University campus. It was everything I had been looking for. As a business student, I have gained international experience that expands my future business prospects. I've met people from all over the world. There is a large population of international and American students. Being an American student in a Canadian university has given me insight into cultures I never knew existed. Choosing Bishop's was the best choice I could have made! Melanie Rhoads Woodsville (New Hampshire), Fourth Year, Business Administration
Concordia University Montreal, Quebec Studying at Concordia University has been a memorable life experience. It has given me the opportunities and flexibility to mold my bachelor's degree to best reflect my passion. Your education is what you make of it. Concordia University has helped me do just that! Veronique Tokateloff, Mechanical Engineering
LaSalle College International Montréal and Vancouver I feel very lucky to have chosen this school because I am having the experience of my life! I like the professionalism of my teachers and their involvement in our success. The program suits me because it is short, offering only courses that are relevant. Being in Montreal definitely contributes to the great experience I am having. The city is unique to me because although it is multicultural, it is also very safe as all the different ethnicities live together peacefully. Diana Montenegro (Colombia), Interior Design Student, 2006
Quebec - Capital City: Quebec City Quebec has an area three times that of France and seven times that of Great Britain, making it the largest of Canada’s provinces. Quebec is bordered by Ontario, New Brunswick, Nunavut and Labrador (the mainland portion of the province of Newfoundland& Labrador) and by the United States. Almost 80 per cent of Quebecers live in urban centres located along the banks of the historic and scenic St. Lawrence River. Out of a total population of about seven million, more than five million people living in Quebec are of French origin, and French is the mother tongue of 82 per cent of Quebecers. However, between 1986 and 1991, 78 per cent of the gains in Quebec’s population came from people with origins other than French, British or Aboriginal.
Home to the majority of Canada’s French-speaking population, Quebec has a “joie de vivre” that is undeniable. Fine French restaurants, superb shopping and fabulous entertainment make Montreal high on the list of the world’s great cities. With a metropolitan population of three million, Montreal is renowned for both its rich history and its modern and lively cultural activities. While in Quebec, you shouldn’t miss the biggest winter festival in the world, Carnival, celebrated annually in the provincial capital of Quebec City, and famous for its Bonhomme mascot and ice castles.
