Work based experience programs at high schools in Canada are designed to give students the opportunity to gain experience in the workplace while they complete their secondary studies. Activities may include work study for senior (grade 10 to 12) students, work place and job site tours or field trips, job shadowing and work experience mentoring. These programs allow students to directly apply their classroom lessons to real-world scenarios, to make connections with employers, and to gain concrete experience of the working world beyond the confines of their high school.
