FORMAL TRANSFER AGREEMENT
|
Formal transfer agreements for university transfer programs in Canada are agreements between institutions to ensure transfer of credit for courses done. These agreements--also called "articulation agreements"--outline which courses or programs will transfer from colleges to universities, or from university to university, and under what terms.
Formal transfer agreements tend to be between institutions within one province, and are negotiated on an individual basis between each college and university. Transferring from province to province may be more restricted. If your chosen college is not part of a formal transfer agreement, transferring your credits may not be possible; you will want to check with your college and the university to which you wish to transfer before enrolling. However, in general Canadian universities are open to accepting Canadian community college credits, and there are pan-Canadian protocols in place to promote the transferability of credits across the country in order to improve access to post-secondary education.
