Why study in Canada?
Read what international students have to say about studying in Alberta and the universities and colleges they attended.
DeVry Institute of Technology
Calgary, Alberta
My decision to come to DeVry was based on the programs they offered, the ability to complete a four-year Bachelor's degree in three years, small interactive classrooms with hands on instruction and the involved process they have right from the admissions office to student services, academics and career services. Now that I have started a full-time career, one term before I graduate, coming to DeVry has been one of the best decisions I have made.

The small class sizes at MacEwan made it the ideal school for me. The instructors were always able to give us the individual attention we needed, and explain difficult concepts in a way we could understand.

The kind of education one receives at Mount Royal is like no other. The dedication of the teachers, administrators and back-up staff far exceed expectations. I am honoured that I will now forever be a very small part of Mount Royal College, which will always remain a large part of who I am.

I chose U of A because of its reputation as one of the world's foremost research-intensive universities. As an international student, I have found the professors at U of A highly knowledgeable, the office staff exceptionally nice and helpful, and the students very open minded and friendly. Apart from all these, the weather in Alberta is really unique and people are really hospitable. The fascinating vibrant intellectual community, excellent research facilities, and unique intellectually stimulating learning environment of U of A have made me proud of being a part of it.

Alberta - Capital City: Edmonton
Alberta is the second westernmost province, next to BC. It has an area of over 600,000 square kilometres and is home to more than 3.2 million people. Alberta is bordered to the east by the province of Saskatchewan, to the west by the Rocky Mountains and British Columbia, to the north by the Northwest Territories and to the south by the state of Montana in the United States.
Alberta is noted for its world-famous Calgary Exhibition and Stampede. This annual 10-day festival captures the attention of the entire city and offers a chance to dress “western” in jeans and cowboy boots while enjoying the chuckwagon races, bull-riding and nightly fireworks. For some serious shopping in Alberta, you can visit the West Edmonton Mall, which is the largest mall in Canada, and includes a hotel, waterpark, theme park and several nightspots. Nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts can take in the natural beauty of the Rocky Mountains in Banff and Jasper national parks, where they can also enjoy trail-riding, camping, skiing and numerous hot springs.
